Dev & maintainer
Airbnb's open-source data-oriented service mesh. Instead of every team wiring up its own access patterns, Viaduct puts a single highly connected GraphQL schema in front of the entire estate, and services talk to that. I work on the framework components behind service integration, the type-safe GraphQL layer, dependency injection, and the Bazel and Gradle build path.
Creator
A Gradle plugin that reads your .graphqls files and generates
type-safe Kotlin query builders from them. No hand-written query
strings, no separate serialisation layer, and no way to send a query the schema
won't accept — the compiler catches it first. Schema changes propagate to every
consumer on the next build.
Otherwise
Day to day: Kotlin, Java, Scala and Python; Spring Boot, GraphQL and Kafka; Postgres, Bazel, Gradle, Docker. Airline and e-commerce backends before this, which is where I learned that most performance problems are really schema problems.
Away from the keyboard it's backpacking, skiing and nature photography, mostly somewhere cold and North Atlantic. That lives on its own page.
